Posse Down Chiefs

Saturday September 27, saw the Posse travel to Chase to face the early season division leaders.  The Art Holdings Memorial Arena has not treated the Posse well and the boys were eager to change their luck.

The game started off in typical Posse fashion with Dale’s crew establishing a strong forecheck and strong cycle game.  After a number of strong shifts Wade Masch openned the scoring by getting a shot through the 5 hole on the Chiefs goaltender.  The first period ended as it had started with the Posse dictating the play.  Evan Weaver scored his second goal of the year on a breakaway early in the second on a stretch pass from Kieran Friesen.  Chase made the game tight by scoring late in the second with a shot deflecting past goalie Tanner Sheridan.

The third period was a defensive struggle with Princeton killing three minor penalties.  Billy Marshall secured a two lead with a wrist shot from the point past the Chief goalie.

The Posse continued to work the cycle for most of the remaining time keeping the Chief’s off the scoresheet.  Nick Cecconi continued his strong play with a huge hit on Chase captain Patterson.  The result of the hit saw the Chief’s take a late penalty.  Late in the game the Chief’s pulled the goalie and Wade Masch added his second goal of the game with an empty netter from his side of center.

Adding assists where Brooks Christensen (2), Derrick Delisser (2), Kieran Friesen (1), Billy Marshall (1) and Brody Brewster (1).

Final score Princeton 4 – Chase 1.

Three stars.. 1-Wade Masch,  2-Brooks Christensen,  3-Jordan Bytelaar (chief’s goalie)

Posse Defeat the Rockies

Posse 5 – Rockies 2

The Posse faced the Columbia Valley Rockies last night.  The evening was hilited by the return of goaltender Tanner Sheridan and the first game for rookie defenseman Kieran Friesen.  The two new players were strong contributers to the Posse 5-2 victory.

The return of Sheridan immediately paid dividends, as Tanner stopped 31 of 33 shots.  Included in Tanners performance were two key saves early in the second period.  Shorthanded the Posse were pressured by the Rockies offense, Sheridan closed the door with numerous big saves to keep the Posse down  by a single goal.

Teams at even strength, Kyle L’Arrivee, forced a turn over in the neutral zone, picked up the loose puck and scored on the breakaway.  For the second game in a row the Posse power play was able to capitalize, scoring the next two goals.  Defenseman Jared Hidber scored his first goal of the season with a wrist shot from the point.   Derrick Delisser added one more by knocking in his own rebound to give the Posse a 3=1 lead going into the third period.

The third period saw the Posse continue to pressure the Rockie defense, Jason Alessio notched his first goal of the season by finishing a little play from line mate Brody Brewster.  Spencer Brooks finished the posse scoring with a hard wrist shot past Rockies netminder Brandon Anderson.

Three Stars:  1-Spencer Brooks 2- Tanner Sheridan  3 – Wade Masch

Posse Sign Familiar back stopper

The Princeton Posse are proud to announce the return of goalie Tanner Sheridan. Princeton completed a trade with the Kimberly Dynamiters to re-aquire his KIJHL playing rights. Tanner spent the last couple of weeks in Fort Francis of the Superior International Junior A hockey League (SIJHL). The Fort Francis Sabres are a second year team and also feature former Posse defenseman Riley Ferster. To make room unfortunately the Posse had to release goalie Zack Blain. We thank Zack for his hard work and wish him the best for his future endeavors.
